The 70s
The story of PLAISANCE ÉQUIPEMENTS began in January 1976, when Jean-Marie and Jocelyne Plaisance founded the company. At first, the building was divided between the store and the repair workshop. Repairs turned into manufacturing, and in 1979, the bucket became the first tool sold by the brand.
The 80s
The company manufactures and markets various products for the agricultural sector. In 1984, Plaisance Equipements expanded and built a new workshop to meet demand. A year later, the company turned its attention to the forestry sector, manufacturing stump grinders.
The 90s
Plaisance Equipements presents its range of equipment at its first trade show, INTERMAT, in 1990. The brand continued to diversify into the forestry sector with the manufacture of gyro-mulchers in 1991. Two years later, Plaisance produced and marketed its first forestry mulcher. The necessary supports and teeth are also mass-produced at the Plaisance plant. In this way, the company ensures optimum customer support.
At the same time, a new workshop is built, bringing the total surface area to 2,600 m². This will enable Plaisance Equipements to accommodate its new range of wheeled self-propelled machines, the only one of its kind in France. The first is the Variotrac 300, built jointly with Jean-Marie and Fabien Plaisance, the eldest son, who joined the family business alongside his parents in 1994. Three years later, the Variotrac 400 joined the range with a 405 hp engine.
The 2000s
A new century and a new range for Plaisance Equipements. The company launches its own brand of tracked self-propelled to meet a new market. The first model is built with a 160 hp engine: the Galotrax 200. Following the success of these machines, Plaisance introduces a larger model: the Galotrax 500. In 2005, the company builds two new workshops and additional office space.
After the forestry mulchers, Plaisance also offered stone crushers in various sizes to fit all types of tractors. Ground mulchers arrived a few years later, in response to customer demand and the brand’s growing loyalty.
The 2010s
In 2010, the Galotrax 800 joins the tracked self-propelled range, becoming the first machine in its category with such an engine. To continue diversifying, Plaisance Equipements develops its first self-propelled machine with a side arm, also known as a VTR.
In 2012, the fifth workshop is built, bringing the total surface area to 10,000 m². Plaisance Equipements also chooses to focus on developing its ranges through the B-series and, a few years later, the H-Series. Cabins are also redesigned and optimized to meet new standards. Finally, yellow becomes the official color for all machines.
The end of the decade also saw the company taken over by two brothers, Fabien and Florian Plaisance.
Since 2020
The latest Plaisance model to leave the factory is the SKYCUT. A tree trimmer self-propelled machine designed with a 25-meter fiberglass arm and a rotating head with circular saw at the end. It is used for high-voltage line maintenance. An RTS version is also available, with a telescopic boom that can be removed in just a few minutes for easy operation of the forestry mulcher.
